The illegal lynching of Marshall Ratliff was the last mob lynching in Texas history, and although no one was prosecuted, a Grand Jury was reportedly convened at the request of Judge Davenport. District Attorney, Joe Jones, was in charge of the Grand Jury (Jones had replaced Frank Sparks who had been in charge of the Santa Claus bank robbery trials).
