Adelheid “Heidi” Newman

BRECKENRIDGE--Adelheid “Heidi” Newman, age 83 of Gordon, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020. Funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, December 12th at St. Rita Catholic Church in Ranger with Rev. Father Vijaya Raju Mareedu officiating. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., Friday, December 11th at St. Rita Catholic Church. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Adelheid Rinke was born July 5, 1937 in Germany to parents Josef Rinke and Helene Beck Rinke. When she was 14, her family moved to the United States. They docked on April 10, 1952 and settled in Deshler, Nebraska. During school, she met Raymond Gene Newman and on April 16, 1955, the two were married in Hebron, Nebraska. The family moved to Texas and Heidi and Raymond started their own business, I-20 Diesel Service, Inc., in Gordon. They owned and operated the business together for over 44 years. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and teaching her daughters the craft. She loved her family dearly and was happiest spending time with each of them. Heidi was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Ranger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Helene Rinke; one brother, Al Rinke; one sister, Ede Matthews; two sons, Richard Newman, Steven Newman; and one son-in-law, Randy Braim.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Newman of Gordon; three children, Stuart Newman of Weatherford, Laura Mallory and husband Mark of Stephenville, Cora Braim of Breckenridge; four siblings, Margaret Fishell and husband Wesley, Maggie Dittrich, Anna Marie Dyer, all of Colorado, Josef Rinke of Nebraska; ten grandchildren, James Newman, Tonya Hunter, Crystal Cole, Jonathan Braim, Mark Mallory II, Lesa Martinez, Adelheid Scroggins, Christina Mallory, Katlynn Long, Helene Braim; and eight great grandchildren.
