Kara Kay Lewis

EASTLAND – Kara “Kay” Lewis, 63 of Eastland, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Abilene.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Eastland City Cemetery Pavilion. The family received friends at Edwards Funeral Home Wednesday, 6~8 p.m.

Kay was born July 26, 1955 in Ranger to C.W. Williamson and Pat (Steddum) Williamson. She graduated from Eastland High School and Cisco Jr. College Cosmetology School. She married Allan Lewis on June 30, 1973 in Desdemona. She was a hairdresser for many years, as well as helping her family in Lewis & Sons Cemetery Service. Kay was a proud homemaker, who believed children are the greatest blessing in life, and considered being a mother and grandmother her greatest accomplishment.  Her favorite times in life were family “get-togethers”  and holidays with family.  Her favorite past time was talking about her kids, grandkids and “adopted grandkids”  to anyone who would listen.  Kay was a proud Eastland Maverick alum, who never missed a Class of ‘73 Reunion.  Kay never met a stranger and made friends with everyone she met.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Survivors include her husband, Allan Lewis; her father, C.W. Williamson; 3 sons, Bradley Lewis, Matthew Lewis, and Tyrell Lewis; 3 brothers, Tommy Williamson and wife Yvonne, Lawton Williamson and wife Sheila, and Marty Williamson and wife Christi; a sister, Peggy Rhyne and husband Danny; 2 granddaughters, Shilah Lewis and Tarissa Lewis, as well as their mother, Stephanie Clark; 3 honorary grandchildren, Damien Zane Rhyne, Cameron Rhyne, and Grace Osteen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations in her name be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1651 Pine St, Abilene, TX 79601 or online at: www.hendrickhospice.org. Online condolences for the family may be left at: www.edwards-funeral-homes.com.
