Michael Curtis Frantz

Michael Curtis Frantz went to heaven on November 27th, 2021. He was welcomed in heaven by both sets of his grandparents who he loved very much.

Michael was a simple man who loved many things. He was 51 years old. He loved to tent camp under the stars all over Texas but his favorite was the mountains of Fort Davis. He always looked the part of a mountain man sporting long hair and a long beard to match.

Mike loved his nieces, nephew and great nephew as if they were his own. He had such pride in his eyes each time he held one of them, cheered them on and celebrated their successes. He gave each a nickname and he would not call them by any other.

Mike went to school at Sunset Bible Institute to become a youth pastor. He used what he learned in school and his struggles in life to pour God into each person he met. He loved God and wanted others to love God too. He was a youth minister in Missouri at Flat River Church of Christ. When he moved back to Texas he served many years as a camp counselor at Lake Cisco Church Camp. He developed lifelong friendships and gained many more nieces and nephews through his journey there. He has officiated weddings and baptized many new Christians. If there was a celebration, Mike was there. He found so much joy in celebrating other’s lives.

Mike loved to read, drink Dr. Pepper, and watch Longhorns football. He was also a diehard Chicago Cubs fan but he also loved the Rangers. When the Cubs won the World Series in 2016 you would have thought he was on the team. He never gave up on his Cubbies. John Wayne was another love that he shared with our Papa. He and his Papa had a very strong connection. A quote that was special to him and Papa was “Courage is being scared but saddling up anyways.” They both have gone through health struggles in their life and they would remember that quote during those times. Michael will be missed everyday by so many. We find comfort in knowing he is celebrating his life in heaven with Jesus.

He was so very loved by his family and he loved us back. He leaves behind his parents: Fred and Linda Frantz; his siblings: brother and sister in law-Dwayne and Tanya Frantz, sister and brother in law-Cynthia and Chris Gomez-Brooks, brother-John Frantz; his nieces and nephews: niece and nephew in law-Brittany and CJ Braun, niece-Ashlynn Brooks, nephew-Brayden Brooks, niece-Caelynn Brooks, great nephew-Tripp Braun, a brand new great niece Eleanor and his Cubs buddy-Samantha Primera. He was also loved by his Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many wonderful friends.
