The Eastland Mavericks might not have won as many games as they would have liked at the Eula High School basketball tournament to close out the 2021 year, but thet certainly proved they could play with the area’s best.
Eastland County fans will have to wait a big longer for the Eastland Mavericks and Cisco Loboes to once again be district rivals on the football field. At leadt two more years, to be exact.
Robert Frost wrote “Two Roads Diverged in a Yellow Wood” which is a well- known poem, but he also wrote “No Memory of Having Starred Can Meet the Disregard or Keep the End from Being Hard.” Many successful people (actors, athletes, politicians, builders, artists and others) have climbed the mountain of success in their field of endeavor but experience toward the end of their career the downhill or over the hill thrust. They too become forgotten and their achievements disappear with a new generation of successful people.

The Eastland High School Lady Mavericks’ 2021-22 basketball season has gotten off to a slow start. The Lady Mavericks fell to 0-4 recently when they dropped a 57-34 decision to rival Cisco.
