The Eastland High School boys’ and girls’ thinclads might not have finished highly in the final team standings at the District 8-3A Track and Field Championships last week in Dublin, but they made sure they would be represented well at the upcoming Area track meet. As a team, Eastland secured 11 spots in the meet.

The Eastland High School Lady Mavericks kept their hopes of a district championship alive on Friday. The Lady Mavs rode the right arm of Ellie Pitts to a key victory over the Early Lady Longhorns in front of a large crowd at the EISD Sports Complex.
Austin Rodgers and Grady Galyean penciled their name into the candidates for the best 800-meter runners in West Texas last Friday with sensational effort at the Bluebonnet Relays in Brownwood. Competing in front of a small crowd at Gordon Wood Stadium, Rodgers and Galyean powered their way to an impressive 1-2 finish in the half-mile race and led Eastland to second in the final team standings.
Adalynn Cunningham proved she could run and fly with the best in Texas last Friday. The Eastland High School standout won the girls’ 400-meter dash and took second in the pole vault en route to leading the Lady Mavericks to the top of the Class 1A-3A standings at the 2021 Bluebonnet Relays in Brownwood.
