Skyler Parson drove in three runs and Behren Morton, Dylan Wilson, Hunter Johnson and Alex Gonzales all pounded out a pair of hits en route to leading the Eastland Mavericks to a 5-1 victory over the Sweetwater Mustangs in the second round of the Eastland Baseball Invitational.
Brynna Foster and the Eastland Lady Mavericks turned in a sensational effort at the Big Spring Invitational Softball Tournament this past weekend. The Eastland girls went 5-0-1 in their outing, including a 4-2 comefrom-behind win over Colorado City.
The Cisco Lady Loboes grabbed a couple of big wins over the weekend in non-district softball action. Cisco defeated Stephenville by a 15-11 clip on Feb. 27. Then, following a tough loss to Springtown, Cisco rebounded to knock of Lake Country Christian High School, 2-0.
The Gorman Panthers will renew their rivalry with nearby De- Leon on March 10 when they two teams face off in a matchup of two perennial baseball powers. The game is scheduled to begin at noon in De- Leon.
