David James (DJ) Walker

David James (DJ) Walker of Abilene, Texas, formerly of Eastland, passed away from this life on January 7, 2021 at the age of 65.

David was born in Coleman County on November 6, 1955 to James Walker and Charlotte Jones Walker. David attended Coleman Schools where he was active in football, basketball and band. After he graduated, David joined the U. S. Navy to serve his country. After his military service, he moved to Eastland Texas and began working for GTE/AT&T Telephone Company where he retired. He had several small business adventures before becoming a Justice of the Peace in Eastland County where he served several terms as a judge. He also became an ordained minister after retirement. He was a member of the Christian Church.

He married the love of his life Alicea Bullock on November 4, 2016.

David is survived by his wife, Alicea Walker of Abilene, son Scotty Walker and wife Teresa of Ranger, Texas, daughter Jennifer Walker of Van, Texas, son Dustin Walker and his wife Jolene of Portland, Oregon, his mom Viola Walker of Coleman, three brothers and two sister-in laws, Darrell and Crystal Walker of Coleman, Jason and Andrea Walker of Santa Anna, and Jeffrey Walker of Lubbock. He was also survived by numerous grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. David had three step daughters and sons-in-law. Brandy and Shayne Hamel of Rockledge, Florida, Brittney and Patrick Kennedy of Coco, Florida and Brooke and Ryan Beam of Abilene, Texas, also including 8 step grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Carroll Walker, mother Charlotte Lewis, sister Kathy Walker, brother Carroll Walker, brother Jimmy Raymond Walker, and sister Margaret Slay.

DJ, as friends and family knew him, was an avid and competitive fisherman, competing statewide in tournaments and spent much of his free time fishing to perfect his craft. He requested to be cremated and have his remains spread in the water of Lake Leon, in Eastland, County. There will be no formal celebration of life gathering due to Covid.

He is loved by those who knew his gentle grace and will be deeply missed by all.
