Jack L. Cogburn

EASTLAND – Jack L. Cogburn, age 92, went home to the arms of his Lord and Savior Friday, February 8, 2019.

As per Jack’s request, he will be cremated and laid to rest beside his wife with a simple graveside service Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2 PM at the Eastland City Cemetery.

Jack was born April 2, 1926 in Weatherford to Cecil and Inez Gilbert Cogburn. In 1944, at the age of 18, he joined the US Navy and served during World War II. On September 7, 1945 he married Miss Florence Marie Lawson in Ranger, TX and became a longtime resident of Eastland in 1950. Jack worked for Victor Cornelius at VC Menus for 36 years as a Linotype Operator and was a member of the Daugherty St. Church of Christ since 1961.

For fun, Jack love going to gun shows and pawn shops looking for interesting things he could buy at one shop and maybe sell at the next. He was also a jeweler of sorts; he enjoyed taking old jewelry and remaking it into something new and unique.

Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife Florence in 2012 and a precious granddaughter, Jana Cogburn in 1984.

He is survived by his son, Kenny Cogburn and wife Wadena of Comanche; grandson, Jason Cogburn of Eastland; great grandsons, Justin Cogburn of Midland and Jayton Cogburn of Eastland and their mother, Laurie Cogburn also of Eastland. He is also survived by granddaughter, Chrystie Parkman and husband Brent of McKinney; great granddaughters, Alicea Kubena of Baton Rouge and Lillyana Parkman of McKinney; and great grandson, Hawk Kubena also of McKinney; and many friends.
