Mavericks Too ‘Sharp’ For Bulldogs

As the Eastland Mavericks prepared for their Week 2 opponent, the Clyde Bulldogs, a little redemption from last year was in their minds. In Clyde, the Bulldogs were able to hold on for a 20-15 victory in a tight game (2016).

With Week 1 starting QB Zach Brown unable to perform because of an injury, the reigns of the offense were handed to freshman son of the coach, Behren Morton. And Morton did not disappoint. Getting over his early nerves (and a picksix for Clyde), Morton led an important drive in the second quarter that finished with a Brenton Stuck 1-yard score.
