• Joseph A Venable of Cisco was a Sergeant Major with the United States Army when he died when the helicopter he was in was shot down by enemy fire on September 13, 1968.
  • Everett W (Bubba) Everett of Olden was hospital man with the United States Navy when he was killed by enemy gunfire on July 22, 1968
  • Willie Donald Tyrone of Carbon was a Staff Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps when he was killed in action on May 30, 1965. Tyrone received the Silver Star posthumously for his actions during the battle in which he was killed.
  • James K Gray of Carbon was killed when a hangar deck fire erupted on the U.S.S. Oriskany off the coast of North Vietnam on October 26, 1966. Seaman Gray was one of 43 who lost their life in the fire.
  • Jerald D Wallace of Cisco was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army when he died in action on December 27, 1966.
  • Larry Joe Rodgers of Ranger, was a Private First Class with the United States Marine Corps when he was killed in action on March 17, 1968 at the age of 21.

6 Eastland County Men Listed On Vietnam Wall

THE WALL THAT HEALS, the ¾ scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. and a Mobile Education Center will be in Eastland April 12-15. Both will be next to Farmers & Merchants Bank at 930 E Main St. Both will be open for viewing 24 hours a day through 12 Noon Sunday, April 15. There is NO charge to view each.

THE WALL THAT HEALS will have a personal meaning to many in the area and especially to families of the 6 Eastland County men listed on the panels.
