Ranger, Texas - The word was heard far and wide on that day on October 1917, Ranger’s McCleskey No. 1 hit pay dirt, was a Gusher and proclaimed the beginning of the Great Boom.

An article in the New York Times stated it “was probably the most spectacular boom ever to have occurred within the United States”.
