Feral Swine Eradication and Control Pilot Program Feb. 16

Feral Swine Eradication and Control Pilot Program Feb. 16

We are still in the grips of winter and there are already questions on gardening and hay production coming in. Some of them from folks like me who firmly agree that 1 week of winter is enough already! For now, the answer is wait and be patient for the most part. One thing I do encourage now is taking soil samples and having them analyzed, especially if you have not for 3-4 years or there were problems last year. By doing so now, you can beat the spring rush at the lab, and you have time to make the necessary soil adjustments for your particular crop. It will come as no surprise to most folks that fertilizer prices have gone out of sight and show no sign of slowing down. By knowing exactly where your soil is as far as pH and soil nutrients, you can save over or under applying fertilizer and money. I have soil bags and the accompanying paperwork available in the office. The basic soil analysis cost $12 and that information could prove very valuable this year in particular.
