This Church Is Alive and Welcoming

Harmony, the little church in Morton Valley, like all other churches in the area has had a challenging year so far. The new Christian Life Center was completed last November but its dedication and inauguration services were hampered by the Covid-19 virus . We lost our deacon , one of our original members of the church, to the virus. We have lost another pillar of the church to a heart attack. For a church family, and we are a close knit family, of (32 now 27) such loses are very telling.

Grub worms

A sure sign that summer is here is June Bugs, but their larval stage can inflict a lot of damage to lawns. They are the ¾-1 inch long, C-shaped worms with a white body and brown heads you find in the top 3-4 inches of soil. Once mating takes place, the female June Bug lays eggs 2-5 inches deep in the soil and the BB-sized eggs hatch roughly 6 weeks later into the grub. The entire life cycle takes a full year to complete so grubs are not usually a problem in vegetable gardens or other areas tilled each year.

Olden Monthly Musical is Saturday, July 17th

The Olden Community Center will hold its regular hot country meal and fine classic music that many of us grew up listening to. We invite you to come out to Olden on July 17th and spend an enjoyable evening of fine food and great music. This month we will be serving Hamburgers and chips. Admission is free and meal is $6.00. The meal starts at 5:00 PM and the music starts at 5:30 PM. There is no charge to just listen to the music. Our musicians are from the area in and around Eastland County and perform some great country sounds. When the door closes, you can leave your troubles at the door, visit with friends and neighbors, enjoy our comfortable facility and enjoy the entertainment for the evening. Come on out to Olden Saturday, July 17th and join us.
