(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6-8.
The Eastland Centennial Memorial Library (ECML) received a grant from the American Library Association (ALA) this past spring. The grant was titled Libraries Transforming Communities. The goal of the grant is to train librarians how to lead a conversation that can transform our community. To apply for the grant we had to pick a topic that was of importance to our community and our library. We then had to agree to hold a discussion about our topic. Our topic was “The Importance of Access to Ebooks and Audiobooks During a Pandemic.” Our goal in applying for this grant was to learn how to successfully lead discussions in our community and to win money to add ebooks and audiobooks to our Libby app. We met our goal and won the grant.
Mr. Lewis, a citizen of Desdemona, expressed concerns to the Eastland County Court Monday regarding increasing values of property taxes and the effect on many citizens of this county.
