County to Apply for shelter expense reimbursement

The Commissioners Court of Eastland County approved the county’s submission of application(s) to FEMA/TDEM for reimbursement of extraordinary expenses incurred by Myrtle Wilks Community Center during the 2021 Winter Storm emergency of 2021. Shelter operations for citizens without power and water during the emergency were provided by MWCC in Cisco, as well as Woodbridge Church in Ranger and First Baptist Church in Eastland.

City of Eastland Police Department Press Release

On 05/06/2021, Eastland Police Officer Don Walls was dispatched to a domestic disturbance at 500 W. Sadosa, Apartment #61. A subject identified as Joseph Anthony Gonzalez, 25 years of age, was arrested for domestic violence and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Gonzalez was placed in handcuffs and placed in the back of the patrol vehicle. Officer Walls and Eastland County Deputy Sheriff Terry Honea then searched the area for a handgun that Gonzalez had allegedly brandished during the domestic assault.

District Attorney speaks at Ranger Lions Club

Ranger Lions Club was honored to welcome 91st Criminal District Attorney Russ Thomason at a recent meeting. Criminal D. A. Thomason, serving since 2003, is retiring on May 31st. He spoke to the club about steps he is taking, along with 1st Assistant District Attorney Paul Lewallen, towards a smooth transition of office.
