On Friday January 22nd 2021 Eastland Police Department received a call of a stabbing at La Hacienda Mexican restaurant in Eastland. Two individuals identified as Vincent Hamilton 24 of Cisco and Lane Payne 24 of Eastland were stabbed during an altercation with a third male individual.
A Called Meeting by Eastland’s Governing Body was to be held February 2nd to discuss and consider, in Executive Session, applicants for the position of City Manager.
Mrs. Gerald (Shirley) Ables is gone but far from forgotten by many throughout this area. Especially honored here at the Majestic Theater where she was a faithful volunteer for many years at the ticket booth, refreshment stand and “sweeping” out when necessary. So faithful at her church and to her family, she was a remarkable citizen known throughout the county and by all who knew her. (Some even may remember that she once worked at the A&P grocery. I mentioned in last month’s column that the Texas legislature meets for 140 days in every odd-numbered year. Today, I want to break that down a bit and discuss how those 140 days are scheduled, as well as reflect on Governor Abbott’s State of the State address from February 1.
