Ruth Reports on D.C. Prayer Meet

Why would anybody want to go to Washington, D.C. with Covid restrictions before the election? To pray! Several ministries have organized prayer gathering at the capitol this fall, and Marilyn Hickey Ministries was one of them. The call to prayer for the healing of our nation seemed to resonate with local resident Ruth Stewart, so she accepted the challenge and made arrangements to join the group. Ruth and her friend from Michigan were able to go a day early to go to Lafayette Park, which is just north of the White House. This had been the location of some protests concerning “Black Lives Matter” recently. It was reported that there was continual prayer going on there, and Ruth signed up for a time to join the group to pray, but when she and her friend arrived they found the park to be fenced off with a police presence nearby. There were BLM signs on the fence and peaceful protesters sitting there with them. Ruth and her friend walked the length of the north side of the park, but could not find an entrance, so they retraced their steps, praying along the way. There was a buffer zone around the White House because of the recent protests, so Ruth and her friend walked to the Washington Monument and then to the national mall. They came to the World War II Memorial and then called a taxi.
