I have heard one way to figure out if you are doing something right or wrong is to just quit doing it. Someone will let you know pretty quick…one way or the other. I stopped putting this column in the paper when Corona hit because things got pretty hectic and confusing here, plus I figured there was more pressing and important information needing to be printed. To my surprise, I have had folks call to see if I had Corona, causing me to stop the article! No, I’m fine, dodged it so far, but thanks for the concern and interest. So, here we go again…

Texas Agrilife Extension and Hendricks Blood Bank would like to thank everyone who participated in the blood drive on July 7, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 blood banks have experienced lower than usual donations, and the 9 pints of blood that were donated from Eastland County were very much needed and appreciated. A screening takes place prior to donating blood, we had several who attempted to give but could not for various reasons. We appreciate those who showed up in support of this effort and to Eastland County Today for allowing us to use your facilities.

Ranger resident, Vicki Doyle, has rescued and relocated wildlife for 30 years. She released a statement to the public on how to care for abandoned opossums. If found as a baby, the opossum is still in the nursing stage. Opossums ride on the back of their mothers or inside their pouch, often falling off or the mother gets run over. When found, they are normally dehydrated and require an emergency meal. The following recipe will work for any animal:
