NJCAA votes to delay Start of most Sports until Spring

The latest domino in the athletic world’s reaction to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic fell on Monday afternoon when the NJCAA, at the recommendation of its Board of Regents and the Presidential Advisory Board, announced it would be pushing back the start of many of its athletic seasons until 2021. The NJCAA Board of Regents voted overwhelmingly to delay the start of most of its athletic seasons in an effort to protect the health of student-athletes.

Letter To The Editor

As you may be aware Stephens County Commissioners Court on June 8th passed a resolution opening the county 100% for business. This resolution was very similar to the resolution passed by the Eastland Commissioners Court. We must always be vigilant where our constitutional rights are concerned. Several Eastland county residents came to Breckenridge to speak in favor of this resolution. I would like to give my personal thanks to the following people; Robin Hayes, Ruth York, Beth Maynard, Pastor Jerry Maston and Jon Francis. A special thanks goes to State Representative Mike Lang and Commissioner Dave Eagle who drove from Granbury to speak in favor of the resolution. Commissioner Eagle wrote the original resolution that had been presented to the Commissioners Court earlier. Eastland and Hood Counties can be proud to have such people. I sincerely hope more counties will follow the lead of Eastland, Stephens, and Hood County Commissioners Courts. Chuck Cook, Breckenridge, Texas 325-513-8366
