4-H Food Drive June 8-22

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas food banks are now serving 88% more clients than this time last year. Donations to food banks are also down, combined with food production slowing down when the demand has increased the most and many have lost jobs and incomes reduced. Volunteers at food pantries have also declined by up to 70% forcing some pantries to close, and other food pantries have had to close due to lack of donated food to distribute to those in need.

County teams release 2020 football schedules

With the return of summer workouts, and the beginning of preseason workouts looming, all three of Eastland County’s 11-man football programs released their scheduled for the upcoming season recently. And, for the first time in years, all three of the former rivals will be competing in different districts, thanks to redistricting by the University Interscholastic League.

My fingers heal to the point I can type again. I helped build the new cemetery fence for six weeks, off and on. Carried pipe really, was a helper. No skills to contribute, I was at best moral support. Alameda is a cemetery where grandparents, great grandparents rest – a timeless retreat flowing down a gentle hillside, on a bench of the Leon River Valley.
