All of Eastland County Nursing Homes will be tested for COVID 19 in the next few weeks. This will include the residents and employees according to Administrators Renee Alexander of Ranger Nursing and Administrator Forrest Blanton of Eastland Nursing and Rehab.
Due to the current COVID-19 conditions, seniors around the county will be honored with parades and other activities which meet the safety guidelines. Parades were held in Rising Star and Gorman this weekend.(See more Page A4 ...) A senior parade will be held in Eastland Monday. Gov. Greg Abbott opened Monday’s press conference on Phase 2 of reopening Texas by saying that each day is one day closer to getting to a medical discovery to cure COVID-19.
Memorial Day originally began as a tribute to Union dead after the War Between the States. Decoration Day, as it was known then, was organized in the spring so fresh flowers could be placed on the graves of the recently deceased warriors. By the turn of the Century, the day was fixed to May 30th and adopted by states throughout the nation.
Eastland-James Dee Horn, 86, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, May 14, 2020. A funeral service was held on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at 2PM at the Leon River Cowboy Church.
