What’s going on in Economic Development in Gorman, Texas...

The City of Gorman and the EDC attended the biennial Lawmakers Luncheon this past week. This luncheon takes place with our lawmakers are out of session but still want to know what the public needs are and they want to let us know what happened in this past legislative session and what we can look for in the next. District 28 State Senator Charles Perry was there but unfortunately Dist 60 State Rep Mike Lang was unable to be present. State Rep Sheffield, Frank and Lambert were also in attendance.

State Sen. Perry started off with interesting information about the population influx into Texas has been so great and fast that the state has ‘outgrown’ its revenue sources. He said that much of the coming year, besides meeting the continuing demands of Hurricane Harvey’s aftermath, the legislature will include considering ways to fund our existing programs.
