2021 GORMAN PEANUT FESTIVAL

This year’s festival has come and gone!! We would like to thank everyone who came out to enjoy the day as we celebrated in remembrance of Patriot Day honoring the 20th anniversary of September 11th, 2001. Thank you to all of our sponsors who made this possible. Congratulations to the Eastland County Sheriff’s Dept who won the tug of war after the parade. A BIG thanks to the Gorman Fire Dept for shooting off the fireworks at the end of the night to kick off a fantastic performance by Ariel Hutchins. Most of all we would like to thank all of our first responders, police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and especially all military service members and veterans for their sacrifice and service to our country. We Will Never Forget.

Annual Gorman Peanut Festival Saturday. Events begin at 10am in Downtown Gorman.

Fall weather is here at last. I am looking forward to cooler weather and more rain. How about you? I’m also looking forward to the annual Peanut Festival this Saturday. Audrey Johnston has done a great job organizing it this year. The entire schedule of events was in last week’s issue of this paper and you can find it online on FaceBook and on other websites too.

Gorman Peanut Queen pageant held

The 2021 Gorman Peanut Queen and Little Miss Peanut Queen pageant was held Thursday, Sept. 2 at the GISD auditorium. Contestants presented an essay on “What’s great about Gorman”. A short resume was also presented about each contestant. All contestants looked beautiful in their formal attire. Briley Sherman was crowned 2021 Peanut Queen. The jury then had to reach a decision on who would be 2021 Little Miss Peanut Queen. That surely was not an easy choice as all were amazing, but the jury, after deliberation, decided to crown Dallie Seay as Little Miss Peanut Queen. No doubt, Dallie and Briley will be great representatives for Gorman.
