Several residents in Gorman on Monday were without electricity for some time due to a leaning pole on Crescent St. The electric company put in a new pole and did other repairs before the electricity was turned back on. It was the second outage for some, as electricity was also out for several hours during the storms Sunday evening.
On July 31st-August 1st a group of men gathered at Solid Rock on Lake Leon for a pig roasting cook-off. The contest had five teams with four people in each group. Firstfruits Christian Fellowship’s Fully Equipped Men provided the pigs and dug the holes. The Promise Keepers men’s conference, and Firstfruits Church were both involved in the activities held at Solid Rock camp. Most of the men put the pigs in the ground to cook early in the morning on August 1st, but some put it in the ground late the night before. The groups had to be done by 11am so they could be judged. Campbell Construction’s team won first place and an Iceland cooler. While the pig was cooking, ax throwing, guest speakers, and other fun activities took place. It was a great weekend for the men to gather together.
