Natalie Torres continued to turn heads on the trails for the Gorman Lady Panthers this past weekend. The GHS standout printed her way to a fourth-place finish in the varsity girls’ race Sidney and helped the Lady Panthers take fourth in the final team standings.
Dimitri Brandenburg and Briar Scitern both rushed for more than 100 yards and the Gorman Panther defense forced five turnovers enroute to claiming a wild 47-34 come-from-behind win over the Blum Bobcats on Friday.
Demitri Brandenburg rushed for three touchdowns and helped carry the Gorman Panthers to a dominating 54-8 victory over the Sidney Eagles in their season-opener last week. In all, Gorman collected touchdowns from five different players en route to a 45-point mercy rule win.
The Gorman Panthers’ emotions went on a rollercoaster ride last Thursday in front of a small crowd at the Mitchell County Sports Complex in Colorado City. They went from celebrating the Gorman’s first state championship since 1976, to disbelief, despair and, finally, elation all in a span of 12 outs.
