Raymond D. Knighton

Raymond D. Knighton, 67, of Clyde died Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in an Abilene hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Daugherty Street Church of Christ, 309 S. Daugherty Ave., Eastland, with Larry Roberts officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial with military honors followed at 2:00 p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Visitation was from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Raymond was born January 6, 1953 in La Mesa, California to Celester and Dorothy (Dubois) Knighton. He graduated from Upland High School in California. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Korea and Germany, and later at Fort Hood where he met the love of his life, Linda Ramos. They were married in Bell County in 1990. After his retirement from the military, they moved to Eastland. He worked for Eastland I.S.D. and later for The City of Eastland for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Eastland VFW #4136 and a member of the Daugherty Street Church of Christ. They recently moved to the Clyde area, where he became a member of the Clyde Church of Christ.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Turner of Las Vegas, Nevada; his wife of 30 years, Linda Knighton of Clyde; two sons, Raymond D. Knighton, Jr. of Clyde and Benjamin C. Knighton of Eastland; two daughters, Amelia Knighton of Eastland and Miranda Reich and husband Blake of Abilene; two brothers, Gordon Leroy Knighton and Johnny Knighton, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister Melody McKesson and husband Dennis of Las Vegas, Nevada and two grandchildren, Paxton Ramos-Toler and Atlas J. Knighton and many other relatives and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Celester Knighton.
