New RISD Superintendent: ‘We are going to have school’

For Kevin Shipley leaving his position with the Copperas Cove school district to become the superintendent at Ranger Independent School District wasn’t a step down. It was more of a step toward his past. A veteran school administrator, Shipley took over the top spot at RISD earlier this month, replacing longtime superintendent Mike Thompson, who stepped down at the end of the school year to pursue other opportunities.

Chief Fox and Captain Wells received the Life Saving Award from the City of Ranger for their heroic efforts made on the June 22 structure fire.

Fox and Wells Receive Life Saving Awards

The morning of June 22nd at 6:19, Ranger Fire was dispatched to a residential structure fire on Alice St. While en-route, responding units were advised that there was an occupant trapped by the flames in a camper trailer that was next to the structure. Upon arrival, the structure was fully involved. First arriving units made a defensive attack on the fire in an attempt to rescue the occupant. Batting smoke, extreme heat and impinging flames, firefighters were able approach the camper and rescue the occupant. Units had to use fog pattern from the fire hose and one firefighter wrapping his body around the occupant to protect the her from the flames and heat. Five dogs were also saved from the fire.

Tiffany Fade speaks about Texas Lions Camp

Tiffany Fade, a member of the Graham Lions Club and elected director to the Texas Lions Camp, could not hide her enthusiasm and love for both the Lions Club and the Texas Lions Camp for children with physical disabilities, type 1 diabetes, cancer or Down syndrome.
