Ranger Times
Your Ranger City Librarian and husband delivered school supplies last week to elementary students playing outside at recess in Roatan, Honduras. Their concrete courtyard was secured with razor wire and a locked gate. No playground equipment at all, but the children all seemed cheerful. I asked four girls, sitting on a windowsill, “Can I take your picture?” A dozen more kids quickly crowded in for the shot. Before we left, I gave the speech about the value of learning and working and listening to their teachers. That cute little girl next to me pointed to the girl next to her and said, “She doesn’t know English.” I told Jimmy, “We should have tried playing London Bridge!” Maybe we can visit again someday.
