Comanche County Medical Center (CCMC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit healthcare organization, is constructing a medical clinic and pharmacy in Rising Star, Texas. The building, located at 1870 State Highway 36, will be approx. 3,500 square feet and include a drive-thru pharmacy window and parking lot. The site is about three quarters of a mile east of US-183 and the center of Rising Star.
The Texas Department of Transportation and its contractor, Big Creek Construction, Ltd., are currently working on a project in the town of Rising Star which will result in widened and reconstructed pavement with the final roadway having two travel lanes (one in each direction), along with shoulders, curbs and sidewalks. Parking for businesses during construction is temporarily impacted as mentioned in public meetings held prior to the start of construction; however, when finished, parking will return to its original location. The intersection of US 183 and SH 36 will see an improvement of larger turning radii on the east side of the intersection to accommodate turning of large commercial truck traffic. The project is anticipated for completion in late 2021.
Emily Stuteville Alford (94) opened the 64th Rising Star High School Ex Student business meeting. Joe Dell Hubbard (70) led the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance to the US and Texas flags were led by the class of 1970.
