The Wall Hawks scored three times in the first half on Friday and then held on to claim a tough 35-10 victory over the Eastland Mavericks in the 2023 season for both teams.
The loss spoiled the debut of Bobby Schuman as the Mavericks’ new head coach. Schuman replaced longtime head coach James Morton this past offseason.
Despite the loss, the Mavericks flexed plenty of muscle in their opener. Eastland rolled up more than 220 total yards on offense and, more impressively, limited a high-powered Wall offense to just 319 total yards.
