Rising Star opened the 2023 home football season falling to the Zephyr Bulldogs 38-34.
The Bulldogs received the opening kickoff and marched down the field, scoring on a Tripp Ballard 7-yard run. The PAT made the score 8-0 just 2 minutes and 17 seconds into the game.
The Wildcats were on the move but Zephyr intercepted a Kobey Morris pass on the Bulldog 22yard line. Zephyr fumbled the football back to the Wildcats on their first play. Pacey McGinn scored on a 17-yard sweep around left end. After the missed PAT the score was 8-6 in favor of Zephyr.
