Heading into their showdown with the Merkel Badgers, the Eastland Mavericks knew they had to do something quickly if they wanted to change their luck and keep their playoff hopes alive.
They did just that on Friday 13th..
Eastland scored twice in the first 12 minutes of play and then held on to claim a thrilling 23-20 victory in front of a large crowd at Badger Stadium. Eastland’s defense, which surrendered almost 400 yards of total offense to the Badgers, held Merkel scoreless in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.
