Ranger Lions Club greeted Marla Tovar, new president of the Ranger Economic Development board, as guest speaker at a previous meeting. The program was hosted by Lion Luis Ramirez.
Ranger EDC board members are appointed by the City of Ranger Commission, Ms. Tovar explained. Ranger has both a Type A & Type B EDC. The use of revenues from the two corporations may differ somewhat, depending on the local project.
Ms. Tovar reported that Ranger EDC meets on a Wednesday in the month at 5:30 p.m. They are busy establishing goals for 2023 - 2024, she said. Ms. Tovar also mentioned she has attended seminars and workshops and visited with small communities to learn of their progress and projects. This included a meeting with Trinity Davis, Gorman EDC director.
