Her parents, Per Brendstrup Hansen and Annette Hansen of Copenhagen, Denmark, flew in and watched her score a goal for the team, leading to a 5-1 victory over Dallas Christian College.

“I always wanted to play soccer in the U.S.,” Freja said. Former Cisco soccer coach Brandon McGibney recruited her, “and that’s how I ended up here.”

Before coming to Cisco, Freja had lived in Copenhagen all her life. Moving into a Cisco dorm “was a little bit rough, and definitely weird in the beginning,” she said. “But I had some very good teammates around me that helped me feel at home.”
