Mavs set to return to district play

The Eastland Mavericks will return to District 5-3A basketball action this week.

The Eastland Mavericks will return to District 5-3A basketball action this week.

Fresh off a solid showing at the Eula tournament, the Mavericks will square off against Comanche in a battle for the district’s top spot on Friday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the EHS gym. Both teams won their district openers prior to the Christmas break.

Eastland, which defeated Millsap by a 45-42 clip on December 19, played well in the Eula tournament despite suffering a pair of losses. The Mavericks played Clyde close throughout in their opener in Eula. Isaiah Hays buried three clutch long-range shots and helped Eastland fight its way to within 50-42.
