Lady Mavs qualify for Area in 10 events

Lily Bird and Adalynn Cunningham went into the District 8-3A Track and Field Championships expecting to dominate in their events. And they did just that last week at Bob and Norma Cervetto Stadium in Dublin.

Little-known freshman Jayci Majors did, too.

All three raced their way to gold medals on April 3-4 and helped spur the Eastland Lady Mavericks to a fifth-place finish in the district standings. More importantly, the three helped spur the Lady Mavericks to garner 10 berths in the upcoming Area track meet. Only the top four finishers at the district meet advance to the area meet.
