Hadli Hampton is headed to the big time.
The Gorman High School junior earned he way into the Class 1A State Track and Field Championships this past weekend with gold-medal effort in front of a large crowd at the University of North Texas track in Denton.
One of a large group of Gorman girls participating in the Region III-A track meet, Hampton punched her ticket to Austin by nailing down first-place in the long jump competition. She posted a leap of 16 feet, 10 ΒΌ inches and easily edged the rest of the field.
