SPORADIC RAINS, SUNSHINE BRING FLOWERS, WEEDS, MOSQUITOES

The rains the area has experienced in the past few weeks have many benefits for the farmers, gardeners and others. But, with the good also comes the bad. The moisture, along with the nice warm sunshine days that followed will bring about a tremendous growth in lawns, fields and empty lots, as well as a surge in the mosquito population.

Here are some tips to control these issues for safety and to remain in compliance with City Ordinances:

1) Keep lawns mowed to a height of no more than 6 inches and any undeveloped areas to no more than 12 inches. Not only is this more appealing to the eye, but it will help with the rodent and mosquito control as well as fuel for fires. Also, property owners are responsible for maintaining to the curb or street edge, as well as along their property to the center of any alleyway.
