Democracy or Republic

James Bovard, a civil libertarian made this statement in 1994. “Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting what they will have for dinner.”

The key difference between a democracy and a republic lies in the limits placed on government by law, which has implications on minority rights.

Both forms of government use are systems where citizens vote to elect politicians to represent their interests and form the government.
