Paula Suzanne Butler Reese

Paula Suzanne Butler Reese of Alamogordo, New Mexico passed away in El Paso July 30, 2024.

She was born February 8, 1943, Ranger, Texas, to Clara and Kenneth Butler. Clara was rumored to be the first working pregnant woman in Eastland history while Kenneth was deployed in the Army.

Suzanne met Harold Reese of Scranton, Texas, in college and they married in Eastland June 8, 1963. After graduation from Abilene Christian College, the couple moved to La Junta, Colorado, where Harold planned to teach at a low income school until he paid off the college loans, Harold as principal and Suzanne as a substitute teacher, and later as Swink School Secretary, and later as La Junta Junior High Secretary and Bookkeeper. Their stay in La Junta lasted for 30 years before their retirement and a return to Texas where they settled in their home in Cisco. They were active members of the La Junta Church of Christ; Suzanne taught, created a program called Juniors for Jesus, and coached teams for the Bible Bowl.
