(Editor’s Note: Cisco College had a special award ceremony during halftime of the Homecoming game Saturday to pay tribute to the late Joe Jarvis, well known civic leader and friend to Cisco College who passed away in June. The award was presented to Janella Jarvis and the couple’s sons, Jody and Jory, by College President Dr.
Thad Anglin and his wife, Sharon Anglin.

The author, Kevin Carson, longtime sports announcer, was a lifelong friend of Joe Jarvis and says he first met Jarvis by smashing a pillow into his face during a pillow fight at summer camp. Carson himself witnessed the card game story that is told below.)
