Mavs rally falls short against Lions

The Dublin Lions scored on a 2-yard keeper with less than 2 minutes to play on Friday and then held on to claim a wild 35-28 victory over Eastland in a key District 5-3A showdown at Bob and Norma Cervetto Field. The late touchdown helped

carry Dublin to its first win importantly, to their first win of the 2024 season and, more over Eastland since 2006. The Mavericks fell to 3-5 and 0-3 in district play.

Eastland controlled the tempo early in the showdown. After the Mavs had forced the possession, Cayden Alford got the Eastland offense rollinto the end zone from a yard out and staked Eastland to a 6-0 lead with 6:54 remaining in the opening frame.
