Ranger Lions Club presented Tips to help avoid Fraud and Scams

Derrick Saucedo, First Financial Bank Eastland, gave a talk to Ranger Lions Club Thursday about Fraud Threats and Security Tips for both businesses and individuals.

Saucedo, a member of Ranger Lions Club, presented many good ways to detect and avoid scams; some an example of fraud he had encountered in his work at a financial institution. Sadly, he noted, elderly citizens are often targeted in financial fraud.

Tips to avoid scams and fraud included using an alternate communications channel to confirm a request for information or funds. For example, if a message or email is claiming to be from your bank or a vendor, check the bank’s or vendor’s website for the official phone number and call that rather than replying to one listed in the message, Lion Saucedo suggested.
