City Commission Canvasses Election, Issues Combined

By Vance O’Brien The City of Eastland Commissioners met in regular session on Nov. 18 with Mayor and all commissioners present as well as staff and few visitors. After call to order, Richard Rossander led the Invocation followed by City Manager’s Savannah Fortenberry pledges to the flags. No public comment ensued but then Secretary Leslie Zander announced that the finances started the fiscal year off good with August and September good.

Shawn of Waste Connections presented then a proposal of 2025 rate increases of $1.15 per plastic dumpster, an additional for second dumpster of 0.62 and added $1.74 metal large dumpster and $3.40 for another large metal one. The city agreed to this with provision that the increase start in January. The increase is due to added cost for disposal transfer cost. The company covers the Weatherford area. The increase is an $8.5 one.
