Jenice Bacon, 91, passed away on January 11, 2025 at her home in Eastland, Texas. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 19th at Morehart Mortuary, 1101 W. Walker, Breckenridge, Texas with CLP Katherine Mehaffey officiating. Private burial will follow at the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Jenice was born on July 28, 1933 in Breckenridge, Texas to H.H. and Eddith Roberson Mehaffey, and was the seventh of their ten children. Jenice attended Breckenridge Public Schools, and worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. Jenice married Joe T. Bacon on December 14, 1957 in Amarillo, Texas. During their marriage, Jenice and Joe lived in South Carolina and Illinois while Joe was in the Air Force. Later, with Joe working for the US Postal Service, their family lived in Breckenridge and Graham, and Joe and Jenice moved to Fort Worth after Joe’s retirement. After Joe’s death in 2012, Jenice lived in Eastland, Texas, to be near extended family, including her oldest brother, Aaron, who died in 2020.
Jenice was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Stacy Erin Finger and her husband Tom; brothers, Aaron Art, Howard Leon, Thomas Claude, Robert Joe, Maurice Rogers Mehaffey; sisters, Patty Lorese Russell, Estrella Cooper, and Eddith Sue Thompson.
