Early deals Lady Mavs tough 6-3 setback

The Early Lady Longhorns threw a wrench into the Eastland Lady Mavericks bid for the District 8-3A runner-up honors last week by grinding out a 6- 3 come-from-behind win at home. Early scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to claim the win.

With the loss, Eastland’s bid to clinch the district’s No. 2 spot in the postseason was hampered. The Lady Mavericks, who are scheduled to end the regular season on April 17 in Millsap, fell to 8-4 in district play and dropped into a tie with Comanche for second. Early improved to 6-6 and into a tie for third with Tolar.
