Oscar Villarreal ended the 2023 powerlifting regular season on a high note this past weekend. The RHS senior clinched a berth in the upcoming regional meet by winning the 275-pound weight classification at the Strawn Invitational.
Villarreal’s efforts helped carry the Bulldogs to eighth in the final team standings. Strawn won the meet’s team crown.
Villarreal turned more than a few heads en route to winning his weight class. After posting a lift of 510 in the squat competition, he finished off the meet with lifts of 225 in the bench pres, and 465 in the dead lift. Overall, he had a three-lift total of 1,200.
