Editor, Bad News in Cisco Per the Cisco city finance committee meeting 4-22-25. The city is over 1 million dollars in debt. So there’s no money for roads or water system repair. The city gives half of the cities sales tax revenue to the Cisco Development Corporation (CDC) each year. This is approximately $800 thousand with $230 thousand per year in salary and benefits for 2 employees. This money can’t be used to help pay our bills or repair roads or water mains? I’m asking the city council members to place a vote on the November 2025 ballot to Terminate the existence of the Cisco Development Corporation and its funding in its entirety. So the citizens of Cisco can have the choice to stop funding the CDC.
Giving this revenue back to the city so we can use it to pay our bills and start repairing our infrastructure in the years to come. We have been giving the CDC half our sales tax revenue for the last 31 years. So they could help increase our revenue by bringing new business to our city. But our city is in worse shape now.
Your city council members can vote yes to let you have your right to vote on this issue by putting this on the November ballot. Or they can vote NO, to not give you the right to vote on this important issue by not putting it on the November ballot. Which do you want???
