Will the city council choose our citizens??? After meeting and talking to so many people in all 4 corners of our town I believe it’s time the city council chooses to help them. All our families deserve to finally have half their tax revenue back to replace their critical sewer pumps. And not just keep putting more patches on lengths of failing water mains. But replace the line and move to the next one. Barely getting by is not a good strategy for our city to be doing. Tax payers deserve better. If we can get our $800 thousand in sales tax revenue back to our city we can start rebuilding the things we all count on every day. How long are we willing to let these things go before they are failing more and more often.
City councils back before 1979 did everything a Economic Development corporation is capable of doing. But they could use all their tax revenue for the things that helped the towns people. Street’s, water mains and sewer systems along with new and existing business. I’m sorry and thankful to our police and firefighters along with the city workers that are trying to get by during this pay restructuring. Our officers stand between us and the dangerous people, our fire fighters run in and safe us , our city workers show up and work in the sludge and muck even in freezing weather. All so family’s can use their restrooms and have water to get ready for their day. All these critical employees deserve the best we can offer. It is time to make a change after all these decades. Start using all our sales tax revenue to better our infrastructure.
On another note let’s look at an example of collecting our sales tax. So with 2 major truck stops on the highway selling gas, food and drinks. They each collect our share of the sales tax from customers passing through. So when a 3rd truck stop is added to the same highway it also collects the same sales tax.
